A 44-year-old man whom police described as a "known drug dealer and auto thief" was arrested on St. Charles Street after officers carried out a probation search of his vehicle and residence and allegedly found suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

The man, who was arrested at 1:55 p.m. Aug. 1 in the 1500 block of St. Charles Street, was also accused of possessing a shaved key.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 30

  • DRUG POSSESSION -- A woman whom officers contacted at a disturbance in the 2600 block of Blanding Avenue was arrested on suspicion of possessing narcotics, police said. The 25-year-old woman, who was arrested about 1:40 p.m., was standing next to a cup containing a syringe and allegedly told police it contained heroin.

  • PETTY THEFT -- Police arrested two women after they were accused of shoplifting items from Safeway at Alameda South Shore Center. One woman, 59, was wanted on an outstanding felony warrant, while her 41-year-old companion had prior theft convictions, police said. The arrests occurred about 12:45 p.m.

  • OUTSTANDING WARRANT -- A man contacted during a traffic stop who was on parole for manslaughter was arrested after a background check revealed that he was wanted on an outstanding felony warrant for a firearms offense, police said. Police arrested the man, 33, about 6:55 p.m. on Buena Vista Avenue.

  • DRUG PARAPHERNALIA -- Police arrested a man, 27, on suspicion of possessing a methamphetamine pipe about 8:05 p.m. in the 1600 block of Webster Street. The man also faces a charge of violating his probation.

  • UNDER THE INFLUENCE -- A 26-year-old woman whom officers contacted at a disturbance was arrested after she allegedly displayed signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance. It happened about 9:30 p.m. in the 1500 block of Sherman Street. Along with a narcotics charge, the woman was arrested on suspicion of violating her parole.

    THURSDAY, JULY 31

  • IDENTITY THEFT -- Identity theft was reported at 12:20 p.m. in the 400 block of Park Street after someone used the victim's personal information to make a hotel reservation, police said. Identity theft was also reported about 4:40 p.m. in the 1800 block of Ohlone Street, where someone filed taxes using the victim's personal information.

  • DRUNKEN DRIVING -- A 24-year-old motorist who was spotted driving on the wrong side of a roadway was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, police said. The man, who was arrested at 11:05 p.m. at 29th Avenue and Stanford Street in Oakland, was also wanted on two DUI warrants and was in violation of his probation, plus his license was suspended, according to police.

  • RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE -- Police recovered a vehicle stolen in San Leandro in the 1100 block of Clark Lane just after 3 p.m.

    FRIDAY, AUG. 1

  • MARIJUANA POSSESSION -- Police arrested a man, 22, after he was allegedly found in possession of 19 ounces of marijuana during a traffic stop at Union Street and Alameda Avenue. The arrest occurred about 5:05 p.m. after police learned the man could be searched as a condition of his probation,

  • RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE -- Police recovered a vehicle stolen in San Leandro in the 2300 block of Clement Avenue at 6:30 p.m.

    SATURDAY, AUG. 2

  • VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle theft was reported just before 11 a.m. in the 1000 block of Mangrove Lane.

    SUNDAY, AUG, 3

  • DRUNKEN DRIVING -- Police arrested a man, 18, on suspicion of drunken driving after a traffic stop about 2:05 a.m. in the 2400 block of Buena Vista Avenue. Another man, 32, was arrested for the same offense following another stop about 3:34 a.m. at Oak Street and Buena Vista Avenue, police said. Police also arrested a 48-year-old man on suspicion of drunken driving after he allegedly fled from a traffic collision. The man, who was arrested about 6:50 p.m. at Encinal Avenue and Fernside Boulevard, was wanted on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant and his license was suspended, police said.

  • COMMERCIAL BURGLARY -- A commercial burglary was reported at 12:20 p.m. in the 1000 block of Marina Village Parkway, where an iPad and an iPhone were stolen.

  • TEAR GAS -- Police are investigating a report that someone sprayed another individual with tear gas or a similar substance during an argument in the 1700 block of Park Street. It was reported about 3:20 p.m.

  • VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle theft was reported about 3:45 p.m. in the 400 block of Central Avenue.

  • DRUG PARAPHERNALIA -- Police arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of possessing drug paraphernalia about 4:40 p.m. in the 2200 block of Pacific Avenue.
