Police searched the grounds of Allesandro Elementary School in Silver Lake Wednesday morning, and the school was placed on lockdown after a call was placed alleging that two armed men had entered the campus.

However, police found no evidence that was true and the lockdown was expected to be lifted around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, said Sgt. Frank Gonzalez.

The Los Angeles Police Department’s Northeast Division received a call at 8:05 a.m. that two males wearing black had entered the campus “with unknown weapons.”

“Officers got there. They started asking people if they saw anyone in the school with weapons,” said Sgt. Frank Gonzalez. “Nobody saw anything — no victims, no suspects.”

Police were unable to reach the caller to get additional information.

Gonzalez said officers would continue the search to ensure the school is safe. “We’re just taking every precaution possible to make sure no one (armed) is at the school,” he said.

Guillermina Chavez, an administrative assistant at Allesandro, said the students were in their classrooms on lockdown. “I’m sure they’re nervous, but they’re fine,” she said. “They’re all safe.”
