A traffic stop led to the arrest of a 25-year-old man Aug. 9 after he was found in possession of a loaded firearm with the serial number scratched off, police said.
The man was also in possession of a high capacity magazine, a violation of the terms of his probation, according to police.
Along with arresting the man about 6:35 p.m. in the 1500 block of Park Street, police arrested a 30-year-old woman who was traveling with him after she was allegedly found with suspected cocaine.
THURSDAY, AUG. 7 IDENTITY THEFT -- Identity theft was reported just before 6 p.m. in the 1400 block of Bay Street. DRUG PARAPHERNALIA -- Police arrested a man, 30, who officers recognized and knew was on probation, after allegedly finding him with drug paraphernalia about 9:50 p.m. at Buena Vista Avenue and Park Street.
FRIDAY, AUG. 8 DRUG POSSESSION -- Police arrested a man, 34, about 9:50 a.m. in the 400 block of Buena Vista Avenue, were he was allegedly found in possession of suspected heroin, as well as drug paraphernalia. Another man, 36, also faces narcotics charges after he was arrested about 10:35 p.m. in the 2300 block of Eagle Avenue. The arrest occurred after officers carried out a parole check at his residence, where they said they found him with paraphernalia and methamphetamine packaged for sales. DRUNKEN DRIVING -- Police arrested a 54-year-old man on suspicion of drunken driving about 6:30 p.m. in the 1300 block of Broadway, where an officer initially pulled him over for speeding.
SATURDAY, AUG. 9 DRUNKEN DRIVING -- Police arrested a man, 25, on suspicion of drunken driving following a traffic stop at 2:10 a.m. at 29th Avenue and Glasscock Street in Oakland, near the Park Street Bridge. A 49-year-old woman was arrested for the same offense about an hour later following another traffic stop in the 2400 block of Clement Avenue. A man, 21, was also arrested on suspicion of drunken driving at 4:05 a.m. after he was involved in a traffic collision at Lincoln Avenue and Stanton Street. VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle was reported stolen at 10:25 a.m. in the 600 block of Grand Street. ROBBERY -- A strong-arm robbery was reported about 11:35 a.m. in the 2300 block of Pacific Avenue, where three suspects punched and knocked the victim to the ground before making off with his property, police said. PETTY THEFT -- Police arrested a man, 48, and a 54-year-old woman on suspicion of petty theft at 3:55 p.m. after the couple allegedly shoplifted merchandise from Nob Hill on Blanding Avenue. RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY -- A burglary was reported about 4:45 p.m. in the 700 block of Lincoln Avenue, where the thief entered the residence through an unlocked window. MARIJUANA POSSESSION -- Officers investigating a disturbance at 10:45 p.m. in the 2300 block of Lincoln Avenue arrested a man, 40, on suspicion of possessing less than one ounce of marijuana. He was released at the scene with a citation.
SUNDAY, AUG. 10 BURGLARY -- A burglary of an unlocked tool shed in the 3100 block of Marina Drive was reported about 7:20 a.m. MARIJUANA POSSESSION -- Police cited a man, 21, on suspicion of possessing less than one ounce of marijuana about 2:40 p.m. at Alameda Avenue and Oak Street. VEHICLE THEFT -- Vehicles were reported stolen about 2:26 p.m. in the 2600 block of Janis Circle and about 6:35 p.m. in the 600 block of Glenwood Isle.
MONDAY, AUG. 11 BURGLARY -- Someone stole a bicycle from an open garage in the 100 block of Purcell Drive in what police have classified as a burglary. The theft was reported about 10:35 a.m. COMMERCIAL BURGLARY -- A 44-year-old man faces a burglary charge after he allegedly stole items from the CVS pharmacy on Marina Village Parkway. The man, who told an officer that he entered the business with another individual with a plan to carry out a theft, was arrested about 3:10 p.m., police said. His accomplice fled and eluded officers dispatched to the scene.
