A 28-year-old man who was discovered passed out on a sidewalk faces a drug possession charge because police officers allegedly discovered that he was carrying suspected methamphetamine in his pocket.

The arrest of the man, who police said was intoxicated and could not care for his own safety, took place about 3:45 p.m. Aug. 15 in the 1600 block of Santa Clara Avenue.

WEDNESDAY, AUG. 13

  • VEHICLE THEFT -- Vehicles were reported stolen about 7:50 a.m. in the 1600 block of Union Street and about 12:45 p.m. in the 3100 block of Mecartney Road, where police also recovered a vehicle just before 1 p.m. that was reported stolen in Oakland.

  • FRAUD -- Police are investigating a report that someone deposited fake checks into a credit union account on Webster Street, causing the account to become overdrawn. Loss to the bank was $2,776, police said. The case was reported about 12:40 p.m.

    THURSDAY, AUG. 14

  • RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE -- Police recovered a vehicle stolen in Oakland in the 600 block of Santa Clara Avenue about 6:20 a.m.

  • COMMERCIAL BURGLARY -- Someone shattered a window at the Subway restaurant on Webster Street and apparently entered the business in what police have classified as a burglary. No items were stolen, however. Police learned of the break-in about 7:05 a.m. Another commercial burglary was reported about 12:35 p.m. in the 2300 block of Clement Avenue, police said.

    FRIDAY, AUG. 15

  • VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle was reported stolen about 1:45 p.m. in the 1100 block of College Avenue.

  • DRUNKEN DRIVING -- Police arrested a man, 22, on suspicion of drunken driving after he was involved in a collision about 4:50 p.m. at Harbor Bay and Ron Cowan parkways, where he allegedly failed field sobriety tests before he was taken into custody.

  • RESISTING POLICE -- A man who was accused of battery by his sister resisted officers as they were taking him into custody, police said. The man, who was intoxicated, was placed under citizen's arrest by his sister about 8:15 p.m. in the 700 block of Taylor Avenue. Another man, 52, also faces a charge of resisting police after he struggled as officers were taking him into custody on suspicion of drunken driving. His arrest occurred about 11:25 p.m. in the 800 block of Park Street after an officer initially pulled him over for reckless driving.

    SATURDAY, AUG. 16

  • DRUNKEN DRIVING -- A motorist, 66, involved in a traffic collision was arrested about 12:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of Central Avenue on suspicion of drunken driving after police said he failed field sobriety tests.

    SUNDAY, AUG. 17

  • DRUNKEN DRIVING -- Police arrested a man, 26, on suspicion of drunken driving after a traffic stop about 1:25 a.m. in the 1600 block of Webster Street.

  • VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle was reported stolen about 9:50 a.m. in the 900 block of Lincoln Avenue. Police also arrested a 36-year-old man about 3:50 p.m. after he was allegedly caught driving a stolen vehicle in the 2200 block of Clement Avenue.

  • MARIJUANA POSSESSION -- Police cited a man, 28, on suspicion of possessing less than one ounce of marijuana in the 2200 block of San Antonio Avenue, where officers were dispatched just before 7 p.m. after receiving a call from a witness that people sitting inside a car in the area were apparently smoking the substance.
