ALAMEDA -- More than 65 supporters of Tech Trek, a science and math camp for seventh-grade girls, enjoyed a summer afternoon tea in the gold coast garden of Jeanie Graham on Aug. 2.

Camper alumna Jonquil Rumberger shared her enthusiasm and experiences, and tea maven Susan Leech talked about the English tea tradition.

AAUW-California established Tech Trek in 1998 to help girls sustain and continue their interests in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) during and after their middle school years.

Tech Trek has expanded during the past few years to include camps at eight universities in Northern and Southern California. Tech Trek features a specially selected faculty, field trips, and a full program of hands-on learning experiences. Attendance is by scholarship only through AAUW selection process.

AAUW advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research.
