SACRAMENTO -- California Attorney General Kamala Harris has married an attorney from Los Angeles after a brief engagement.
Her office said Monday that she married Douglas Emhoff on Friday at the Santa Barbara County Courthouse. The attorney general's sister, Maya Harris, conducted the ceremony.
The couple announced their engagement in April, days after Emhoff proposed in late March. Both are 49.
It is her first marriage and his second. Emhoff has two children, one in college and one in high school.
Harris is running for a second term as the state's chief law enforcement officer, while Emhoff is partner in charge of the Los Angeles office of the Venable LLP law firm.
Harris' spokesman, David Beltran, would provide no additional details.
