Hunky Midwestern farmer Chris Soules has been chosen to be the next leading man on "The Bachelor."

Soules was a recent suitor on "The Bachelorette," where Andi Dorfamn broke his heart after he made it to the Final 3. Now, he'll be the one handing out the roses when the dating show returns in January for its 19th edition.

The 32-year-old, 6-foot-1, blue-eyed Soules is described as a "humble but enormously successful farmer from tiny Arlington, Iowa (pop. 427)."

"The Bachelor" host Chris Harrison, speaking to TVGuide.com, explained why Soules won the job.

"He's that diamond in the rough from middle America who more than ever needs the show to find his wife," Harrison said. "It reminds me of Aaron Buerge in Missouri. He needed the show to expand his horizons. So, it takes us back to where the show began."
