SAN JOSE -- Two men were shot and wounded early Sunday in downtown San Jose, San Jose Police reported.

The two, whose names have not been released, were standing on the sidewalk near the intersection of Second and East Santa Clara streets at about 12:13 a.m. when an altercation broke out. Two men fired at the victims, according to police Sgt. Heather Randol.

The victims were wounded and were transported to a hospital. One is in critical condition and one is in stable condition, Randol said.

Police have not apprehended any suspects in the case.
