MORGAN HILL -- A San Martin man is in jail after a suspected DUI crash on Santa Teresa Boulevard killed a 34-year-old Morgan Hill man over the weekend, authorities said.

Raymond Escudero IV, 24, was booked Saturday into the Santa Clara County Jail on $250,000 bail, according to jail records and the California Highway Patrol.

The collision was reported about 12:55 a.m. that morning when a Escudero, driving a 1994 2-door Acura, hit a 1978 Jeep Wrangler, on northbound Santa Teresa Boulevard approaching Native Dancer Drive, the CHP said.

The wreck killed the Jeep driver Jason McArthur, 34, of Morgan Hill. A passenger in the Jeep, a 42-year-old Morgan Hill woman, was taken to Regional Medical Center with what were described as major injuries. A passenger in the Acura, a 23-year-old San Martin woman, was treated for minor injuries.

Shortly after the crash, Escudero, who was not injured, was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI.
