A cyclist whom a patrol officer pulled over at 12:25 a.m. Aug. 27 at Webster Street and Taylor Avenue for not having a light on his bicycle was arrested because he was in possession of suspected methamphetamine, police said.
An officer discovered the substance after learning the man was on probation and could thus be searched. The background check also revealed that a felony warrant existed for the man's arrest.
A 21-year-old man was arrested after another traffic stop about 2:50 a.m. the same day at Oak Street and Pacific Avenue, where police said they found him in possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.
THURSDAY, AUG. 28 DRUG POSSESSION -- Police arrested a man, 35, at 1:20 a.m. in the 1800 block of Pearl Street after he was allegedly found in possession of suspected methamphetamine. The man was also accused of violating his probation. VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle was reported stolen about 7:35 a.m. in the 1000 block of Verdemar Drive.
FRIDAY, AUG. 29 VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle was reported stolen about 7:35 p.m. in the 1700 block of Nason Street. Vehicles were also reported stolen about 1:40 p.m. in the 900 block of Marina Village Parkway and about 7:30 p.m. in the 400 block of Shell Gate Road. TRAFFIC VIOLATION -- A 16-year-old boy who fled from police during a traffic stop was arrested after a background check revealed that he was never issued a driver's license. The teen also faces a charge of resisting or obstructing police. The arrest occurred about 5:30 p.m. in the 700 block of Central Avenue.
SATURDAY, AUG. 30 DRUNKEN DRIVING -- A motorist involved in a traffic collision about 8:35 a.m. at Chestnut Street and Eagle Avenue was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving. The man, 28, who failed field sobriety tests, was injured during the accident and treated at a hospital, where he was released with a notice that provided him with a court date, police said. Police also arrested three motorists on suspicion of drunken driving after detaining them at a DUI checkpoint at Park Street and Clement Avenue. The drivers, all men and who were ages 38, 50 and 22, were arrested after each pulled into the checkpoint between about 10:40 p.m. and about 11 p.m. RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE -- Police recovered a vehicle stolen in Oakland in the 600 block of Tarryton Isle at 10:50 a.m. BURGLARY -- The burglary of a garage in the 3000 block of Windsor Avenue was reported about 12:10 p.m. DRUG POSSESSION -- Police arrested a 23-year-old man after a traffic stop about 6:45 p.m. in the 2300 block of Central Avenue, where officers carried out a probable cause search and allegedly discovered suspected marijuana, hydrocodone and codeine in his vehicle.
SUNDAY, AUG. 31 DRUG POSSESSION -- A 29-year-old man contacted by officers during a traffic stop was arrested after he displayed signs of being under a stimulant and an opiate, police said. The man, who was arrested about 5:35 p.m. at Park Street and Blanding Avenue, faces DUI and drug possession charges, police said.
MONDAY, SEPT. 1 DRUG POSSESSION -- Police arrested a man, 41, after he was allegedly found in possession of amphetamine when officers contacted him shortly after 2 a.m. on Mecartney Road. The man was also booked on suspicion of violating his probation. DRUNKEN DRIVING -- Officers investigating a traffic collision about 6:30 p.m. in the 3300 block of Otis Drive arrested a woman, 34, at the scene on suspicion of drunken driving.
