Nick Cannon pledged his love for Mariah Carey on Twitter on Wednesday, blaming the "evil bottom feeders" of the media for spreading false rumors.

He also defended himself, writing, "For the record I NEVER have, nor will I make a statement regarding my marriage."

It's the first time Cannon has addressed head on reports that he told The Insider on Aug. 21, "There is trouble in paradise. We have been living in separate houses for a few months. My main focus is my kids."

Within hours of Cannon's impassioned tweet-athon, in which he posted almost two dozen tweets professing his love for his estranged wife and contempt for gossip outlets, the media went right on reporting about his doomed marriage. E! News entered the fold with a source reportedly saying, "Mariah has started the divorce process. She's getting all her ducks in a row." The source supposedly went on to say that Carey refused Cannon's recommendation that they see a marriage counselor because she's upset that he spoke to the press about the state of their marriage.

Cannon wrote on Twitter that he was breaking his silence Wednesday because innocent people had been dragged into the drama.

"What infuriates me most is to hear people slander @MariahCarey. I will forever be in debted to her for blessing me with our children...," he tweeted. "I will always love her unconditionally for this and so much more. @MariahCarey is an amazing Mother and I trust her wholeheartedly...

"So to see false reports in the media stating otherwise is absurd! While I would like to remain silent I can no longer allow this to happen," he continued. "I love @MariahCarey and that will never change!!!"

People magazine reported in August a source saying that the "America's Got Talent" host and his singer wife had been living apart for months.

Cannon and Carey secretly married in 2008 after a few weeks of dating. They became parents to twins Monroe and Moroccan in 2011.
