Conder ties for second in NCS golf

Heritage High golfer Megan Conder tied for second place at the North Coast Section Division I Tournament of Champions on Oct. 20 at Windsor Golf Club. Conder shot a 2-under 70 and was tied with Foothill's Alex Sborov. Mission San Jose's Monica Chen won the event with a 69. With her performance at the NCS tournament, Conder advances to play in the Northern California championships on Nov. 5 at Brookside Country Club in Stockton.

Behr fuels LMC Quarterback Michael Behr's 1-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter proved to be the difference as the host Los Medanos College football team beat Redwoods 47-40 in a Bay Valley Conference game Oct. 27. With Los Medanos (5-3, 2-1 BVC) trailing 40-39, Behr led his team on a six-play, 46-yard drive and capped the possession with his quarterback sneak. For the game, Behr completed 19 of 28 passes for 279 yards and three touchdowns. Los Medanos is tied for second in the BVC, one game in back of Contra Costa.

Five new inductees for Mt. Diablo HOF

Mt. Diablo High announced five new inductees to its Sports Hall of Fame. This year's inductees are the 1950-51 boys basketball team, Rodney Atnip (1957), Louie Audas (1961), Steve Freeborn (1967) and Jerry Reese (1991). The induction dinner is Nov. 9 at Zio Fraedo's in Pleasant Hill. For tickets, call Lou Adamo at 925-372-0802 or 925-212-9332. Proceeds go to help fund sports programs at Mt. Diablo High.

  • Pittsburg at Antioch, football, Nov. 2, 7 p.m. -- The Panthers host the Pirates in the annual the Big Little Game. Pittsburg, which has won the last five meetings in the rivalry, can still claim a share of the Bay Valley Athletic League title with a win over Antioch and a Freedom loss to Liberty.

  • NCS playoffs, girls volleyball, Nov. 7, 7 p.m. -- The NCS Division I volleyball playoffs begin on Nov. 7 and Heritage, Liberty and Deer Valley have all qualified for the postseason.

    Stars of the week

  • Katie Dillon, Liberty girls volleyball -- The right-side hitter has helped the Lions to a nine-match win streak entering this week. At the Edison-Stockton Classic, and in BVAL wins over Antioch and Heritage, Dillon had 13 aces, 89 service points, 46 digs and 33 kills.

  • Harris Ross, Pittsburg football -- The Pirates' tailback carried 14 times for a career-high 237 yards and two touchdowns against Heritage.

  • Darrell Daniels, Freedom football -- The Washington-bound receiver caught 11 passes for 195 yards against Deer Valley.
