WEYMOUTH, England -- Redwood City's Molly O'Bryan Vandemoer and her Elliott 6-meter class U.S. boat were beaten 3-1 by Finland in quarterfinal action of Olympic sailing on Wednesday.

The Americans went 8-3 in early round-robin competition, including a win over Finland. But the Finns won the first two races of the quarterfinal on their way to victory at Weymouth and Portland.

First-time Olympian Vandemoer teammed with crew mate Debbie Capozzi and skipper Anna Tunnicliffe.
