Northern California Spring Showcase
The Lamorinda United U14 girls soccer team finished with the second highest point total out of 10 teams in the Platinum Division of The Northern California Spring Showcase tournament.
Lamorinda's defense set the tone in the first match against American River and throughout The United's undefeated run through the weekend. An impenetrable back wall led by Maggie Maguire, Morgan Rogers and Brianna Donat kept American River back on its heels. The United was also unable to score and the game ended in a 0-0 tie. The afternoon match, against arch rival Walnut Creek Explosion, proved to be more interesting. The Explosion struck first before Emma Nushi found the back of the net with the first of her two tournament goals. Jessie Carlin set up Nushi for the first goal and Greta Kohls assisted on the second. Walnut Creek broke the tie late in the second half and took a 2-1 lead. On the very last possession of the game, Lindsay Easter lined up a beautiful header from midfield into the United attacking zone. Caroline Clark followed with a quick touch, and Hannah Fishlow added a short pass before Jadey Sadoff finished into the corner to give Lamorinda a thrilling last-second tie.
The following day, against the West Coast Wonder, the United fought to a 1-1 halftime tie before Tova Ricardo, on the first of her two tournament goals, scored on a breakaway, thanks to a steal
