Cougars edge Dons in thriller

The Campolindo High baseball team got even with rival Acalanes last week, winning 2-1 in extra innings after losing to the Dons in the teams' first meeting of the year. Robbie Tenerowicz, pictured in a 2012 game, and the Cougars recovered from an early 1-0 deficit by tying the game in the third inning. Catcher Adam Remotto then played the role of hero, driving in Ryan Hooper with an infield single in the ninth inning for the go-ahead run. The game featured outstanding pitching on both sides. Matt Ladrech pitched seven strong innings for the Cougars, and Tyler Luckhurt gave up just one hit in two innings of relief. For the Dons, Andrew Merken worked seven solid innings. Campolindo moves into sole possession of first place in the Diablo Foothill Athletic League with its fifth consecutive league win.
