Clayton Stephen Chan, son of

Stephen and Sandy Chan of Orinda, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, which will be presented Feb. 10 at Holy Shepherd Lutheran Church. He is a member of Boy Scout Troop 303, under the leadership of John Wolfe.

For his Eagle community service project, Chan designed and constructed a 14-foot long by 5-foot concrete block display wall with an integrated bench, decorated by glazed tiles hand painted by Orinda Elementary students, at the entrance of the Wagner Ranch Nature Area. The wall is tied into a steel-reinforced foundation with piers reaching five feet into the ground. The wall will be a permanent structure for the Wagner Ranch Nature Area to showcase the artwork of Orinda's youth.

Chan is 17 and a senior at Miramonte High School.

    Declan Scott McNiece, the son of Meg and Al McNiece of Lafayette, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He is a member of Boy Scout Troop 224, under the leadership of Grant Walker.

    For his Eagle community service project, McNiece collected 135 wheelchairs and seating systems for Wheels for Humanity for distribution in Vietnam, Kenya and Costa Rica. He graduated from Acalanes High School and is currently attending Saint Mary's College in Moraga.
