Nina Watkins came off the bench and scored in the 35th minute, lifting No. 2 Stanford to a 1-0 victory at Utah on Friday to extend the Cardinal's conference winning streak to 35 games.
Stanford (10-1-1, 4-0 Pac-12) capitalized on a mistake by Utah (7-3-2, 2-2) for the goal.
Rachel Quon sent a long free kick into the penalty area, and Utah attempted an offsides trap. The timing was off, and Stanford had five players alone behind the Utes defense. Watkins collected the ball and slotted it past goalkeeper Lindsey Luke for her second goal of the season.
Team owner Dave Fry announced that coach/part owner Darren Arbet signed a two-year deal that will carry him through the 2014 season as coach. The 2013 season will be Arbet's 17th with the franchise and 13th as head coach.
Top basketball recruit Jabari Parker plans to make official visits to five universities -- Stanford, BYU, Duke, Florida and Michigan State.
Parker, a 6-foot-8 forward, was the 2012 Gatorade Boys Basketball Player of the Year as a junior after leading Simeon High-Chicago to an Illinois state title while averaging 19.5 points and 8.9 rebounds per game.
