Goals by Mariah Nogueira and Alina Garciamendez within 37 seconds of each other late in the match lifted No. 2 Stanford to a 2-1 women's soccer win over host Colorado on Sunday to extend the Cardinal's conference winning streak to 36.
The Cardinal (11-1-1, 5-0 Pac-12) rallied from its first deficit since Aug. 26 against West Virginia. Ifeoma Onumonu, Lauren Battung and Nina Pederson scored goals, and No. 15 Cal posted a 3-1 win at Utah. Bears keeper Emily Kruger (Woodside High) made 10 saves. Helen Phan (Saint Lawrence Academy) scored off a corner kick in the 70th minute, but it wasn't enough as San Jose State lost 2-1 at home to UT San Antonio.
Steven Sanchez (Piedmont Hills High) scored at the 25:16 mark, and Garret Foster added a goal in the 73rd minute, lifting the San Jose State men's soccer team (5-4-1, 2-0-1 MPSF) to a 2-1 win at UNLV (3-9-1, 1-2). Freshman Inky Ajanaku had 10 kills to lead the No. 7 Stanford women's volleyball team to a 25-19, 25-14, 25-14 sweep of visiting Oregon State. The Cal women's golf team had a third-round 304 and finished 17th at the Liz Murphey Fall Preview in Athens, Ga. Cal's Morgan Thompson (72-223) tied for 30th. Theo Nasser (Aragon High led the Santa Clara men's water polo team with three goals, but the Broncos lost 14-9 at Air Force.
