Table tennis teams from the India Community Center of Milpitas swept the men's and women's titles at the U.S. team trials Sunday in San Jose.
Timothy Wang won the men's competition, while two-time Olympian Khoa Dinh Nguyen of San Jose was third.
Olympian Lily Zhang of Palo Alto won the women's title, following her 2012 national championship. London Olympian Ariel Hsing of San Jose was third, and 13-year-old San Jose native Angela Guan finished sixth.
Colleges
Danielle Henderson and Breana Kostreba each hit a home run as the Cal softball team cruised to a 9-1 victory over Indiana in the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Ariz.
Henderson went 2 for 4 with four RBIs, Kostreba was 2 for 3 with two runs and two RBIs, and Jasmin Mejia went 3 for 3 with a run and two RBIs.
The day ended badly for the Spartans when Lea Cavestany homered with two out in the bottom of the seventh inning for Oregon State.
With the score 2-2 against Cal Poly, San Jose State took the lead when Vanessa House led off the sixth inning with a double and scored on Nicole Schultz's single to left.
Miscellany
Stanford senior Eddie Penev and former Cal standout Glen Ishino were named to the U.S. senior gymnastics team after their performances at the 2013 Winter Cup Challenge in Las Vegas.
Penev finished fourth in the all-around competition, and Ishino was seventh.
