Chris Paul started Cal's four-run seventh inning with a solo home run, and the Bears baseball team went on to an 8-4 win over Fresno State at Evans Diamond on Sunday.

Paul also had a three-run double in the first as Cal (9-7) completed a four-game sweep of the Bulldogs (3-12).

John Richy (2-2) limited No. 9 Stanford (10-5) to two hits as UNLV (13-3) competed a three-game sweep with a 5-1 win at Sunken Diamond. Stanford committed two errors in the seventh, leading to four unearned runs.

Tommy Nance (1-2) allowed just one run and one hit in eight-plus innings, leading Santa Clara (8-8) to a 2-1 win at San Jose State (4-11). Loser D.J. Slaton (0-3) allowed two runs in six innings

Saint Mary's (5-10) allowed only eight hits but lost 14-4 to visiting Utah (7-6).

  • Cheyenne Cordes went 4 for 4, including a grand slam, powering the No. 6 Cal softball team (21-2) to a 9-3 win over Saint Mary's in Fresno. Megan Smith hit a two-run homer for the Gaels. Saint Mary's (4-16) then lost to Fresno State 8-0.

    No. 18/19 Stanford (22-5) beat Pacific 2-0 at the Stanford Louisville Slugger Classic. Teagan Gerhart (11-3) notched her third shutout of the season, allowing three hits.

    Santa Clara (2-17) went 0-6 at the Mizuno Classic in Stillwater, Okla.

  • Steven Irvin had 18 kills, but the No. 4 Stanford men's volleyball team (12-8, 9-8 MPSF) fell 25-21, 25-23, 29-27 at sixth-ranked UCLA (13-9, 9-7).
