wednesDAY'S GAMES

Rangers 6, Penguins 1: Ryane Clowe, Derick Brassard and John Moore injected instant offense just hours after being acquired by the Rangers, and New York scored a season-high three power-play goals in a surprisingly dominant victory over Pittsburgh.

Clowe came to New York on Tuesday in a trade with San Jose, and Brassard was part of the package New York received Wednesday in the deal that sent forward Marian Gaborik to Columbus right before the NHL trade deadline.

Clowe scored two goals -- after netting none for the Sharks in 28 games this season -- and added an assist, and Brassard had a goal and three assists for the Rangers, who scored three times in the first period.

Moore, a defenseman also acquired in the trade for Gaborik, also scored his first goal of the season.

Ducks 5, Stars 2: Ryan Getzlaf had a goal and two assists, and Teemu Selanne scored his 673rd career goal in Anaheim's victory over Dallas.

Oilers 8, Flames 2: Taylor Hall had a goal and four assists in helping Edmonton rout Calgary for its fifth straight win.

Flyers 5, Canadiens 3: Wayne Simmonds and Erik Bustafsson scored goals late in the third period to lift Philadelphia over Montreal.

Trade roundup: The Columbus Blue Jackets made four deals before the deadline Wednesday, topped by the acquisition of Gaborik from the Rangers after Gaborik waived his no-trade clause. Columbus also received defensemen Blake Parlett and Steven Delisle in the deal, which sent forwards Derek Dorsett and Brassard, defenseman John Moore and a sixth-round pick in the 2014 draft to New York.

The Buffalo Sabres traded captain Jason Pominville to the Minnesota Wild for prospects Johan Larsson and Matt Hackett plus a first-round draft pick in 2013 and a second-round draft pick in 2014. The Wild also received a fourth-round pick in 2014.

The Penguins acquired forward Jussi Jokinen from Carolina, and Tampa Bay traded rookie of the year candidate Cory Conacher to Ottawa in exchange for goalie Ben Bishop.

A total of 23 teams completed 17 deals involving 30 players before the deadline.
