The SaberCats have rescheduled next week's home game against the Tampa Bay Storm to Friday, May 10, to avoid a potential conflict with the Sharks at HP Pavilion.

The SaberCats' game was originally scheduled for Saturday, May 11, the same date a potential Game 6 of the Sharks' first-round NHL playoff series against Vancouver.

Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m. The team said all tickets purchased for May 11 will be valid for the rescheduled game.

The SaberCats' game this Saturday night at HP Pavilon is unchanged.

Earthquakes

Alexandre Gonzalez-Emerson, the 20-year-old Bay Area-born forward who turned heads after the team reluctantly gave him a tryout over the winter, was one of two players the team waived on Thursday. Midfielder Jacob Hustedt also was waived, and midfielder Mehdi Ballouchy was activated from the disabled list.

Gonzalez Emerson was born in the South Bay -- his mother is a Lincoln High alum and his parents met at the Valley Fair mall -- but grew up in Jalisco, Mexico. The 5-foot-8 striker trained with the Earthquakes during the preseason and signed with the club on April 4. He made one appearance in Reserve League play.

Hustedt, a second-round pick in the 2012 MLS SuperDraft, played in six Reserve League games, but did not make an appearance in MLS play.

  • The Earthquakes will play host to Norwich City on July 20, the fourth consecutive year the club will meet an English Premier League team for a summer exhibition at Buck Shaw Stadium.

Individual tickets for Visa cardholders will go on sale at 10 a.m. Wednesday, a day before tickets are available to the general public. Ticket information is at www.sjearthquakes.com or 800-225-2277.
