El Sobrante ready to welcome strollers Sunday on Dam Road
Foot traffic will replace motor traffic on San Pablo Dam Road between Appian Way and El Portal Drive from 11 to 4 p.m. Sept. 21 when the El Sobrante Stroll returns for its 21st year. The annual community showcase starts with a morning parade, followed by a day of walking the Dam Road to take in music, food, the classic car show, crafts, vendor and community booths, children's activities and the always popular bicycle stunt show outside The Pedaler.
The Port Costa Art Show, Barbecue and Craft Fair will fill the grounds and interior of the landmark school with arts, crafts and food from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 20 and 21 (art gallery only the second day).
The volunteer event, held as part of the 30th International Shoreline Cleanup, takes place from 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 20. More than 375 tons of debris were removed from California waterways by volunteers last year, and organizers hope to make an even bigger mark this year.
