Parades, fiestas abound to celebrate Cinco de Mayo

Cinco DE Mayo EVENTS RICHMOND-SAN PABLO: The San Pablo-Richmond Cinco de Mayo Unity Parade and Festival is Saturday and begins at 10 a.m. with a parade from Richmond Civic Center, at 27th Street and Nevin Avenue, to San Pablo City Hall, 13831 San Pablo Ave. Parade grand marshals will be former San Pablo Councilman Joe Gomes, 97, and National Park Service ranger Betty Reid Soskin, 91, of Richmond. A free festival follows on the grounds of St. Paul Church, 1845 Church Lane in San Pablo, where the alcohol-free event will have food, entertainment, games and activities. PINOLE: A Cinco de Mayo Festival will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at Fernandez Park, 595 Tennent Ave. The event will have food trucks, games and prizes, children's activities and live music. Tickets are $20 and proceeds benefit La Casita Biligue Montessori School. The fiesta is sponsored by the Hacienda Foundation of Moraga and features a live mariachi band, authentic Mexican food and drink, piñatas and games for children.
