PG&E to begin replacing pipes in area
Pacific Gas & Electric Co. crews soon will start working on replacing underground gas pipes, including some in Oakley.
The project, which involves about seven miles of pipeline from a PG&E gas transmission hub on Bridgehead Road in Antioch to Brentwood, is part of the utilities company's plan to make pipelines safer and involves either replacing aging pipes or pressure-testing them to ensure they don't leak, said company spokeswoman Tamar Sarkissian.
The bulk of the work in Oakley will be on Main Street and Neroly Road, excavating trenches near existing lines and installing new steel pipes.
There won't be any complete street closures, she said.
