Pirates gear up for BVAL opener
The Pittsburg High football team picked up a big nonleague win Sept. 21 when it traveled to Granite Bay and knocked off the Grizzlies 28-27 in overtime. Jamal Lockett, pitcured carrying the ball against Clayton Valley earlier this season, scored the final touchdown and winning two-point conversion after the Grizzlies had taken the lead in overtime. Lockett rushed for 123 yards, two touchdowns and also threw a touchdown pass. Pittsburg, which opens Bay Valley Athletic League play at home against Liberty on Sept. 28 at 7 p.m., outscored Granite Bay 14-0 in the fourth quarter.
