Sanford land purchased for new subdivision: Final steps were taken Monday closing the real estate deal in which Tom Broderick, George Curtis and Claus Fritzen of Antioch and Paul Conger of Pittsburg purchased a 21-acre portion of the Sanford tract just north of Brentwood on Highway 4. The reminder of the tract is being purchased by Jerry Crocco, Marion Gregory, Mike Martino and Manuel Andrade, who plan to use their part agriculturally. A company known as Brentwood Homes Inc. has been formed to develop the area just north of the city limits as a subdivision, where the buyers propose to erect up to 100 homes. Construction work is scheduled to start in the spring. The seller was Richard L. Stanford of San Francisco and the land is a part of the original large Sanford holdings in and around Brentwood. It has been farmed for years by the Garin Co., whose lease expired this month.

Delta Memorial Hospital earns accreditation: Delta Memorial Hospital has been accredited by the Joint Commission of Accreditation of Hospitals (JCAH), earning a three-year accreditation, which is the highest award that a hospital can achieve.

In a letter from the JCAH and the California Medical Association, Delta was told, "This achievement reflects the efforts of your organization to provide high quality care for those you serve."

"We are extremely proud of this high achievement," said Dan Galles, acting associate administrator for operations. "Our medical staff and employees all worked for several months to provide the needed information which earned us this honor," he added.

To become accredited, Delta Memorial Hospital voluntarily requested an on-site evaluation by JCAH surveyors who applied standards designed to further the objectives of quality patient care and the safety of the environment. These national standards represent a consensus among health care professionals and are periodically update to reflect changes in health care delivery.
