ANTIOCH -- The International Film Showcase presents an exclusive Bay Area premier of "A Royal Affair at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 28 and 2 p.m. Dec. 30, El Campanil Theatre, 602 W. Second St.
"A Royal Affair is an 18th century historical drama and epic romance about the love triangle between a German doctor, the queen of Denmark, and her deranged king.
The Danish film has English subtitles.
The film is part of a collaborative effort with the International Film Showcase, which has a successful foreign film series in Orinda.
General admission is $8, seniors 62 and older and children are $7.

'Thumbelina set to open in Antioch
ANTIOCH -- El Campanil Children s Theatre will open "Thumbelina on Jan. 11.
This classic tale by Hans Christian Anderson, adapted by Vera Morris, tells the story of a miniature girl born from a flower who has to find her own way in the world of nature. The imaginative production takes theatergoers into Thumbelina s world, fraught with dangers for one so small.

Piano Duo music and wine recital planned
BRENTWOOD -- Piano Duo Polyhymnia will present a music and wine recital at the Thompson Music Studio at 2628 Saint Andrews Drive.
Performances are 7:30 p.m. Jan. 19 and 3:30 p.m. Jan. 20. Doors will open one-half hour before the performances.
The event features music by Schubert, Liszt, Brahms and Bartock inspired by the folk music of Hungary.

Auditions for set for 'Hansel and Gretel
ANTIOCH -- Stage Right Conservatory Theatre will hold auditions for "Hansel and Gretel aJan. 7 and 8 at the Nick Rodriguez Community Center, 213 F St., Antioch.
This classic story by The Brothers Grimm will be directed by Bryan Anthony. Auditions are open to actors ages 8-4. To receive your audition time, you must register online at www.srctgrp.org. Local art group looking for artists for show
PITTSBURG -- The Pittsburg Arts Collaborative is looking for local artists and volunteers in preparation for its Annual Winter Art Exhibit opening Jan. 19 at the Impulse Gallery at 329 Railroad Ave.
Submission of artwork will take place Jan. 12 and 13 at the Impulse Gallery. However, much work needs to be done in preparation for that date and PACO is looking for volunteers to help.
Each artist may submit three pieces for a $35 entry fee. PACO s artist s opening reception will be held on Jan. 19, between 6 and 8 p.m. and feature cash awards, live music, hors d oeuvres and refreshments.
