BRENTWOOD -- As the Contra Costa County Library system prepares to update its plan countywide, town hall meetings have been set for next month in Brentwood and Discovery Bay to obtain library patron feedback.
Brentwood's community meeting will be at 7 p.m. Aug. 21 in the Brentwood Community Center. Discovery Bay will host its meeting on Aug. 19 in the Discovery Bay Elementary School gym at the same time.
Library patrons can also provide input on the process by taking an online survey at www.ccclib.org. According to Liz Fuller, Brentwood's Community Library Manager, library officials want to hear from both local stakeholders and those who don't frequent the branches often.
"We especially want to hear from people who don't use the library," she said. "Another part of the community input is key informants. We want to know what would be valuable for the library now and in the future."
This summer, Fuller noted that door counts are up by 8 percent at the Brentwood Library and there has been a 20-percent increase in circulation at the downtown branch. She added that more teens have been checking out materials this season and they are working on establishing stronger partnerships with the Delta First 5 Center and Village Community Resource Center.
