A dozen people from the Pleasant Hill Senior Center took the Southern Charm tour in April through South Carolina, Georgia and part of Florida. The group, one-fourth of a tour with many members from New England, was able to visit Charleston and Beaufort, S.C., Savannah, Ga., and St. Augustine and Jacksonville, Fla., where the Pleasant Hill folks caught up on the community news in the Pleasant Hill/Martinez Record at the statue of Andrew Jackson, for whom the city is named. A trip to Jekyll Island, Ga., was also a highlight of the Southern adventure.
It doesn't matter if your time away is spent across San Francisco Bay or across the country -- remember to pack the Record to keep up with news of the community, and then show your neighbors where you have been.
