Brandon Robert Boyd, the son of Robert and Nicole Boyd of Martinez, earned the rank of Eagle Scout, which was presented in Court of Honor ceremonies Nov. 18, at the Hope Center in Pleasant Hill.
He is a member of Boy Scout Troop 277, under the leadership of Scoutmaster Don Hinton.
For his Eagle Scout community service project, Boyd spearheaded a collection drive for Operation Gratitude, a program that sends packages of items to soldiers overseas. He collected handwritten letters and various items, which he and his family drove to Van Nuys to deliver.
During his Scouting career, Boyd earned 33 badges, including two historic centennial badges for carpentry and pathfinding.
Boyd, 17, is a senior at Alhambra High School in Martinez.
Ethan Cemal Lipson-Gokcen, the son of Samuel Lipson and Sabiha Gokcen of Martinez, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, which was presented in Court of Honor ceremonies July 29, at the Hope Center Covenant Church in Pleasant Hill.
He was a member of Boy Scout Troop 277, under the leadership of Scoutmaster Don Hinton.
For his Eagle Scout community service project, Ethan organized and supervised a neighborhood food drive for the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano, and collected more than 1,400 pounds of food and nonperishable goods.
During his Scouting career, Lipson-Gokcen earned 21 merit badges, camped 45 nights,
Lipson-Gokcen, 18, graduated from Alhambra High School in June and is currently a freshman at Sonoma State studying business.
