Dine Out for Education

The Foundation for Pleasant Hill Education is hosting a Dine Out for Education event on Tuesday, March 26.

Residents can present a Dine Out flier (found at www.fphe.org) from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Pasta Pomodoro, 45 Crescent Drive, Pleasant Hill.

A percentage of sales will benefit Pleasant Hill schools. The Dine Out event and flier applies to lunch, dinner and takeout.

Parent program offered at Pixie Play School

Pixie Play School offers a parent and tot program for families with children ages 2-3 from 8:45 to 11:15 a.m. Tuesdays, at the school, 1797 Ayers Road in Concord.

Parents will have a parent education session with the staff, joining the teachers to interact with children in a safe environment, providing firsthand experiences with activities and special projects. Through these experiences, children strengthen their self-concept, develop curiosity and increase vocabulary.

A snack will be served during the session.

YV Christian holding education miniseries

The public is invited to hear Nathan Brammier speak during Ygnacio Valley Christian School's educational miniseries.

Brammier, a noted nutritionist and chemist, will speak about keeping kids from cancer through healthy eating.

The talk will be at 7 p.m. March 26, at the school, 4977 Concord Blvd., Concord.

Pixie Play School fundraiser set

Pixie Play School will host its annual dinner and auction from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. April 13, at St. Michael's and All Angels Episcopal Church, 2925 Bonifacio St. in Concord.

This year the event theme will represent Earth and the environment.

Costumes with a flair from the '60s are encouraged for a contest. Other festivities will include a silent and dessert auction, raffles, and a slideshow featuring activities in the classroom with the children and helping hands.

Admission is $20, with additional and alumni tickets at $10. Tickets can be purchased by calling the school at 925-689-4030 or emailing info@pixieplayschool.org.

DVC looks for hosts for international students

The International Education Center at Diablo Valley is looking for families to host international students on a long- or short-term basis.

Families get a monthly stipend of $825 per student.
