Jacob Nicholas Nye, the son of Robert and Mary Kay Nye, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, which will be presented in Court of Honor ceremonies April 14, at Hope Covenant Church in Pleasant Hill.
He is a member of Boy Scout Troop 277, under the direction of Scoutmaster Don Hinton.
For his Eagle Scout community service project, Nye organized a coat drive for the Community Baptist Church in Bay Point. Through the project, he collected 167 coats.
During his Scouting career, he received the Ad Altare Dei religious award, hiked 244 miles, camped 52 nights and earned 24 merit badges.
Nye, 17, is a junior at De La Salle High School in Concord, and is a resident of Pleasant Hill.
