Thirteen John Muir Medical Center-Concord volunteers took a moment during a fundraising trip to the Canadian Rockies last summer to catch up with the community news in the Pleasant Hill/Martinez Record at the Municipal Gardens in Banff Springs. The weeklong visit included Glacier National Park in Montana, a drive along the Icefields Parkway and a ride onto the Columbia Glacier in a huge ice explorer, and a gondola trip to the top of Sulphur Mountain. On the trip were, front row, from left, Mary McDonald, Mary Ann Halvorson, Joyce Zulaica and Belinda Espinosa; middle row, Nita Marchitiello, Helen Caves and Jeannette Iamele; and back row, Marilyn Sandstrom, Gail Lewis, Nancy Miller, Phillis Neitling, Leonard Caves and Alfred Iamele. Proceeds from the trip benefit the Volunteers Special Projects Fund for the medical center.

It doesn't matter if your time away is spent across San Francisco Bay or across the country -- remember to pack the Record to keep up with news of the community, and then show your neighbors where you have been.
