In June, John Velgus and his father, David Velgus, enjoyed a three-day trip to two of the national parks in California -- Sequoia and adjacent Kings Canyon. The Pacheco residents were awed by the majesty of the giant sequoia trees and the massive General Sherman Tree, the largest known living single stem tree by volume. They hiked the trails, taking in the natural beauty of the waterfalls, meadows and mountains, and also paused for a moment to catch up on the community news in the Pleasant Hill/Martinez Record.
It doesn't matter if your time away is spent across San Francisco Bay or across the country -- remember to pack the Record to keep up with news of the community, and then show your neighbors where you have been.
