Mother Goose Time: 10:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesdays through April 15 (no session Feb. 25). There will be stories and songs, followed by a simple craft time. Best for ages 6 months-3 years old.
Literary Birthdays: Polly Horvath On A Waffle: 3:45-4:45 p.m. Jan. 28. Kids celebrate the birthday of author Polly Horvath, whose book, "Everything on a Waffle," was the inspiration for the giant bookworm. Listen to a chapter of the book, make a present for Polly, and enjoy games and cake (maybe waffles?).
Chinese New Year lion dancers: 6:30-7:30 p.m. Feb. 4. All ages can celebrate Chinese New Year with Leung's White Crane Lion Dancers. Visitors can bring their cameras for some photo opportunities with the lion at the end of the performance.
Wii Wednesdays: 2:30-4 p.m. Feb. 5. Middle school students and teens can join their friends for Wii games and snacks.
Saturday Needle Art with Marilyn: 1-3:30 p.m. Jan. 25, Feb. 8, 22. Free. Teens and adults can drop in to work on current projects or restart a needle art hobby. Hands-on knit and crochet instructions from Marilyn.
Computer Docent for Everyday Library Users: noon-2 p.m. Jan. 29. A new computer docent at the library is able to help patrons with computer and e-reader problems. Use the online registration for appointments or call the library. Participants must give 24-hour cancellation notice to allow others on the waiting list to attend.

Jungle James: 6:30-7:30 p.m. Jan. 28. Kids can join Jungle James as he introduces live reptiles from all over the world.
Eco Sewing: 3-5 p.m. Jan. 29, Feb. 19, 26. Teens can learn sewing machine skills and create upcycled fabric creations. The event is led by a recycling educator and artist. Crafts made will be used toward TAG's annual Art, Jazz and Wine Festival donation drive, and will benefit the library.
Covered CA A One-on-one Affordable Care Act Enrollment Help: 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Jan. 25. Covered California enrollment counselors will talk to participants, explaining coverage options and helping with selections based on need and budget, on a first-come, first-served basis. Common Core Night: 6:30-8 p.m. Feb. 4. Adults can find out what Common Core looks like in the classroom and get answers from educators in a Q&A. In conjunction with the Pleasant Hill Education Commission, the event will feature live demonstrations of Core-alligned lessons in math, science, English and social studies.
Afternoon Book Discussion: 1-2:30 p.m. Feb. 7. Adults can read with others at the library. Discussion this month is on "The Round House" by Louise Erdrich.
Volunteer Orientation: 3-4 p.m. Feb. 1. Teens and adults can learn to be a library volunteer during a tour the branch with a staff member.
