PLEASANT HILL -- The Pleasant Hill Education Commission will co-host a free Common Core Night on Tuesday for parents of students in grades 6-12.

The event includes mini lessons in language arts, math, science and social studies. Curriculum materials that support the new Common Core standards will be available for parents to take home.

Assemblywoman Susan Bonilla, D-Concord, who sponsored a bill that provided $1.25 million in funding to school districts for Common Core professional development and technology upgrades, also expects to attend the event. The Pleasant Hill Library, Mt. Diablo school district and UC Berkeley History Social Science Project are also co-hosting the forum.

The event begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Pleasant Hill Library, 1750 Oak Park Blvd., Pleasant Hill.
