    Mother Goose Time: 10:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesdays through April 22. There will be stories and songs, followed by a simple craft time. Best for ages 6 months-3 years old.

    ARTU4iA Paints@The Library: 3:30-4:30 p.m. April 21. Kids ages 5-11 are invited to a free special painting workshop. All materials are supplied. Space is limited to the first 18 kids who sign up by 4 p.m. April 19.

    Frog Pajama Time with Special Guests: 6:30-7:30 p.m. April 28. Kids can enjoy frogs -- frog princes, frog princesses, flying frogs, and stories and crafts, with Jill Fejeran and her African water frogs.

    Conservatorship Workshop: 5:30-8 p.m. May 6, 13. Workshops are presented by the Contra Costa County Bar Association for those who have already established conservatorship of an estate, or of the estate or of the person. Completion of both parts of the workshop are required for anyone appointed as a conservator. Register by calling 925-646-2783.

  • At the Pleasant Hill Library, Story Time programs are free.

    Story Time: 11:15-11:45 a.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays features songs, movement and simple stories. Good for ages infant to 5, but all are welcome.

    Afternoon Story Time: 1:15-1:45 p.m. Fridays. There will be songs, movement and simple stories to introduce children ages 0-5 to literacy.

    Sunvalley Mall Spring Storytime: 3-3:30 p.m. April 18. Children can meet the Easter Bunny in the main courtyard of Sunvalley mall for songs, stories and rhymes with Patrick Remer and his floppy-eared friend.

    Dante the Magician: 6:30 p.m. April 29. Award-winning magician Dante Mancini will have magic and fun for the family.

    Comic Book Night: 6:30-8 p.m. May 6. Kids can come in costume to celebrate their favorite funnies and superheroes. Following free comic book day, kids can pick up their own free comics and make their own.

    Eco-Sewing: 3-5 p.m. April 30. May 21, 28. Teens can learn sewing machine skills and create upcycled fabric creations. The event is led by a recycling educator and artist. Crafts made will be used toward TAG's annual Art, Jazz and Wine Festival donation drive, and will benefit the library.

    Wii Wednesdays for Teens: 3-4:30 p.m. May 7. Teens are invited to meet others and play games on the library's Wii system.

    Pleasant Hill Teen Advisory Group (TAG): 3:30-5 p.m. May 14. Teens ages 13-18 can meet other teens and the young adult librarian every second Wednesday of the month in Room A to create fun programs and suggest new resources. Participants can receive volunteer hours for their time.

    Teen Chess and Board Games: 3-5 p.m. Fridays. Students 12-17 can get instruction and participate in friendly matches and tournaments. Participants can bring their own boards or games.

    Let's Talk About It: Muslim Journeys Discussion Series: 6-7:30 p.m. May 6. High school students and adults are invited to the reading and discussion, led by Dr. Hatem Bazian, to foster opportunities for informed conversation about the histories, faith and cultures of Muslims around the world and in the United States. Discussion will be on the book, "In An Antique Land: History in the Guise of a Traveler's Tale," by Amitav Ghosh. It will be held at the Pleasant Hill Senior Center, 233 Gregory Lane. Registration is encouraged.

    Reading Recommendations for Mystery Book Lovers: 6:30-8 p.m. April 22. Ron Shoop from Random House will hold his popular Book Club Forum with an emphasis on mysteries. He will share different titles for book club groups and discussions. The event is free and there is a free raffle for a bag of books. A local bookstore will be on hand to sell titles and a percentage of sales benefit Project Second Chance, the library's adult literacy program.

    Classical Music of North India: 6:30-7:30 a.m. May 13. A duo from the Ali Akbar School of Music will play traditional music of North India on the tabla (drum) and sitar/sarod (stringed instruments).

    Pleasant Hill Library Book Discussion: 6:30 p.m. May 20, in Room A. The discussion is on "Please Look After Mom," by Kyong-Suk Sin.

    Afternoon Book Discussion: 1-2:30 p.m. May 2. Adults can read with others at the library in the upstairs reference area. One-On-One Computer Tutor: 4-5 p.m. and 5-6 p.m. Tuesdays; 11 a.m.-noon and noon -1 p.m. Wednesdays; noon-1 p.m. and 1-2 p.m. Thursdays, throughout April. Adults can reserve an appointment for a one-hour, one-on-one computer training session to learn the basics and set up an email account, print and save on the library computer, use Microsoft Word and search the Internet. Select tutors may also offer assistance on digital gadgets like laptops, smart phones, e-readers and cameras. For help on a specific device, call the library when you make a reservation. Only one active reservation at a time is allowed per patron.

    Volunteer Orientation: 3-4 p.m. May 3. Teens and adults can learn to be a library volunteer during a tour the branch with a staff member.

    English Conversation Practice for Adults: 1:30-2:30 p.m. Wednesdays. Adults can practice speaking and listening to English in a casual group run by the library staff and volunteers.

    Las Juntas Artists Association: In partnership with the library, each month the group exhibits the works of different artists during regular library hours.
