  • At the Martinez Library, Story Time programs are on vacation.

    DIY Tuesdays -- LEGO Towers: 3:30-4:30 p.m. May 13. Kids can make Lego towers, Lego castles and create their own projects through tips and tricks from Lego sculptor Charles Esseltine.

    Wii Wednesdays: 2:30-4 p.m. May 7. Middle school students and teens can join their friends for Wii games and snacks.

    Basic Beading Class with Yolanda: 6-7:15 p.m. May 20. Teens and adults can learn about creating jewelry with Yolanda. Seating is limited and registration is required. All supplies are provided.

    Saturday Needle Art with Marilyn: 1-3:30 p.m. May 3, 17, 31. Free. Teens and adults can drop in to work on current projects or restart a needle art hobby. Hands-on knit and crochet instructions from Marilyn.

    Conservatorship Workshop: 5:30-8 p.m. May 6, 13. Workshops are presented by the Contra Costa County Bar Association for those who have already established conservatorship of an estate, or of the estate or of the person. Completion of both parts of the workshop are required by the court for anyone appointed as a conservator. Register in advance by calling the Law Library at 925-646-2783.

    Free Computer Help: noon-2 p.m. Wednesdays in May. Teens, adults and seniors can make an appointment or stop by to get one-on-one help with browsing the Internet, and how to use e-readers, smart phones/tablets and basic computer problems.

    Art Exhibit: Martinez Art Association hosts a rotating exhibit. In May, the artwork of Dorrie Bosley Langley is on display from noon-8 p.m. Mondays; 2-8 p.m. Tuesdays; noon-5 p.m. Wednesdays; and noon-4 p.m. Saturdays.

    Story Time: 11:15-11:45 a.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays features songs, movement and simple stories. Good for ages 0-5, but all are welcome.

    Afternoon Story Time: 1:15-1:45 p.m. Fridays. There will be songs, movement and simple stories to introduce children ages 0-5 to literacy.

    Comic Book Night: 6:30-8 p.m. May 6. Kids can come in costume to celebrate their favorite funnies and superheroes. Following free comic book day, kids can pick up their own free comics and make their own at this family event.

    Wii Wednesdays for Teens: 3-4:30 p.m. May 7. Teens are invited to meet others and play games on the library's Wii system.

    Classical Music of North India: 6:30-7:30 a.m. May 13. A duo from the Ali Akbar School of Music will play traditional music of North India on the tabla (drum) and sitar/sarod (stringed instruments).

    One-On-One Computer Tutor: 4-5 p.m. and 5-6 p.m. Tuesdays, through May 13; 11 a.m.-noon and noon -1 p.m. Wednesdays, through May 7; noon-1 p.m. and 1-2 p.m. Thursdays, through May 15. Adults can reserve an appointment for a one-hour, one-on-one computer training session to learn the basics and set up an email account, use Microsoft Word and search the Internet. Select tutors may also offer assistance on digital gadgets like laptops, smart phones, e-readers and cameras.

    Volunteer Orientation: 3-4 p.m. May 3. Teens and adults can learn to be a library volunteer during a tour with staff.
