Niels Allen Sorensen of Pleasant Hill has earned the rank of Eagle Scout.

McDonnell

Patrick M. McDonnell, the son of Jim McDonnell and Linda Margulies, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, presented in Court of Honor ceremonies March 9, at the Hope Center, in Pleasant Hill.

He is a member of Boy Scout Troop 277, under the leadership of Scoutmaster Don Hinton.

For his Eagle Scout community service project, McDonnell collected 1,700 gently used stuffed animals that were then delivered to the Contra Costa County family court system for distribution to children who need to make court appearances to help ease their experience.

During his Scouting career, he led 78 backpacking trips, and attended Philmont Scout Ranch, and participated in national and international Scouting Jamborees in 2011 and 2012.

McDonnell, 17, is a resident of Martinez, and a senior at Bentley High School.

Sorensen

Niels Allen Sorensen, the son of Jens and Patricia Sorensen, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, which will be presented in Court of Honor ceremonies May 18, at Hope Center Covenant Church, in Pleasant Hill.

He is a member of Boy Scout Troop 277, under the leadership of Scoutmaster Don Hinton.

For his Eagle Scout community service project, Sorensen, along with 29 volunteers, built 12 barn owl boxes that were placed in areas where nesting habitats have been lost. He installed one box at Palmer School in Walnut Creek, and the other boxes were donated to Native Bird Connections in Martinez. It took 165.5 hours to complete his project.

During his Scouting career, Sorensen attended the National Scout Jamboree in 2010, the World Scout Jamboree in 2011, and Philmont Scout Ranch in 2013. He also hiked 626 miles and camped 141 nights, and completed 148 hours of service.

Sorensen, 17, is a junior at College Park High School, and a resident of Pleasant Hill.

Tateosian

Harrison David Tateosian, the son of David and Mae Tateosian, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, presented in Court of Honor ceremonies May 18, at the Hope Center Covenant Church in Pleasant Hill.

He is a member of Troop 277, under the leadership of Scoutmaster Don Hinton.

For his Eagle Scout community service project, Tateosian completed the design and landscaping for a section of the main parking lot at Morello Hills Christian Church in Martinez.

During his Scouting career, he completed 38 merit badges, completed National Youth Leadership training, was a Leave No Trace Trainer, and member of the Order of the Arrow.

Tateosian, 17, is a resident of Martinez, and a senior at Alhambra High School.

Wong

Brian Mitchell Wong, the son of Daryl and Nita Wong, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, presented in Court of Honor ceremonies May 31, at Martinez City Hall.

He is a member of Boy Scout Troop 282, under the leadership of Mark Bradshaw.

For his Eagle Scout community service project, Wong collected care package materials for Blue Star Moms. The care packages were shipped to soldiers serving overseas in areas such as Afghanistan, and were delivered for the Christmas holiday season.

During his Scouting career, he completed National Youth Leadership training and earned 31 merit badges. He was also a Camp Wolfeboro Pioneer.

Wong, 16, is a Martinez resident, and a sophomore at Alhambra High School.
