CYO Basketball Eighth grade Queen of All Saints handed St. Ignatius its first loss in over a year with a 44-40 win. Daniel Solis scored 15 of his 24 points in the final period to fuel the win. Jamil Lea blocked several shots and added nine points. Wyatt Morrow scored seven points and Peter Fosbery grabbed seven rebounds. Seventh grade Devin Darden scored five points and added four steals for SM/SC in a 19-14 loss to St. Joan. Matthew Wells added four points. David Thomas and Brandon Cory combined for 17 rebounds. Eighth grade Sid Seth scored eight first-half points for CCOP in a loss to St. Isidore. Glenn Leininger added six points and Johnnie Motta and Austin Piscotty each played well. Fifth grade Joshua Ott grabbed nine rebounds for CCOP in a loss to St. Isidore. Sam Cukar added seven points and Will Leininger scored two points to go with six rebounds. Girls CYO Third Grade Tina Asemi scored eight points for SM/SC in a game against St. Joan. Jessica Keaney and Skylar Vinson each scored two points. Jaala Downes, a Level 5 gymnast, won the all around with a score of 36.425. She was followed by Megan Quinton's 34.775. The Level 4 team finished second. Alexandra Kim captured first place with a score of 37.025. Edge Gymnastics The Edge Level 4 team placed fifth at the NorCal Zone 6 meet. In the Senior Division, Sarah Fletcher placed first in the All-Around and second on the beam. Hannah Binder placed first on the vault. In the Older Division, Emily Reed placed fourth on the floor. In the Middle Division, Samantha Foon placed third on the vault. Gabriela Rego placed first on the vault. On the bars, Isabella Romano placed third and Brooke Saunders placed fourth. In the Younger Division, Samantha Fredrickson placed second in All-Around and Vault. The Level 5 team placed second. Jennifer Dawson was third in the All-Around in the Younger Division. Dawson was second on beam and floor. Hannah Skepner placed first on the bars and second on the vault. Stephanie Lowe and Skylar tied for fourth on the floor. In the Middle Division, Serena Chan was first on the floor 9.5, Isabella Baldacci placed third on the vault and Brianna Londeree was fourth on the bars. In the Older Division Rhianne Khweled was first on the floor and Danielle Mullins placed third on the bar. Julia Morgin won the All-Arounds and Natalie Mauch finished fifth. Claire Koupal placed third on the bars and Lydia Henderson was fourth. Sydney Wu was second in the Younger Division Level 6 All-Around. Wu was first on the vault and floor. Kelsie Ballas placed sixth. In Level 1, AnneMaria Hancock placed seventh and Darby Culver was ninth. Tory Kruger placed second in Level 4 and Jaime Gray placed third. In the JO (Junior Olympics) events, Jaydin Briggs finished second in the 9-under group. Lottie Goddard won the 10-11 championship. Anatoly Nazarov also won and Natasha Sondeno placed second.
