Elise Danielle Haykin, School of Social Work; Kaitlin L Park, Hankamer School of Business and Emily Adams Pluhowski, College of Arts and Sciences, all from Pleasanton, were named to the dean's list for the 2012 spring semester at Baylor University in Waco, Texas.
Recipients of the spring 2012 president's honor roll award at Washington State University in Pullman, Wash., are: Elizabeth Lorraine Boorujy, Livermore; Russell Alan Flock and Brian Gregory Hickel, Pleasanton; and Nicholas York-Yushuo Wang, San Ramon.
Dominic Martellaro, of Danville, has graduated cum laude from Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Mass., with a bachelor of science degree from the University's Wallace E. Carroll School of Management.
Tessa Wyborny has graduated from Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Neb., and will begin her pediatrics residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, S.C. Wyborny is a 2002 graduate of Monte Vista High School in Danville and a 2006 graduate of Arizona State University, where she was a scholarship athlete in water polo and an NCAA all-academic honoree. She is the daughter of Monika and Grant Wyborny.
Ryan Niel Mix has graduated summa cum laude from Arizona State University with a bachelor of arts degree from the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts in filmmaking practices. He is spending the summer studying film at the American
Trevor John Howard graduated from the University of Oregon, Eugene, with a bachelor of science degree in environmental science and geography. Howard was a member of Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity and served as the InterFraternity council president. He is the son of Julie and John Howard, of Livermore.
Jackson Tyler Strehlow, of Troop 874, under the leadership of Scoutmaster Chris Chamberlain received his Eagle Scout award. For his Eagle project, Strehlow made two checker/chess tables and benches for the Dublin Heritage Center. He is the son of Kristi and Butch Strehlow, of San Ramon, and a junior at California High School in San Ramon.
Jordan Tyler Paculba, the son of Adrianne Kordelos, of San Ramon, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout from Troop 874. For his Eagle project, Paculba organized and supervised the installation of more than 1,000 pavers in the courtyard next to the Historic St. Raymond's Church at Dublin Heritage Center. The beautification project took more than 200 hours. He is a graduate of California High School and a freshman at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Hope Hospice, Dublin, a team of hospice professionals, licensed grief support providers and volunteers serving families throughout the Tri-Valley since 1980 has announced that Irene Philips is its volunteer of the year. During her 23 years of service, she visited patients and their families, helped with events such as the Hike for Hope and completed a variety of tasks in the Dublin office.
Jeffrey Clowdsley Johnson, of Troop 36, received his Eagle Scout award at his Court of Honor at the Danville Veteran's Hall. For his Eagle Scout project, Johnson planned and executed a collection of items for the troops overseas. He worked in conjunction with the Blue Star Moms and was able to collect more than 4,000 items, including instant coffee, powdered drink mixes, trail mix, protein bars, batteries and other single-serving high-protein snacks. The project required more than 65 hours of planning and preparation and 70 volunteer hours of work. He is the son of Jane and Kurt Johnson, of Danville, a 2012 graduate of San Ramon Valley High School and will attend UC San Diego in the fall.
Ryan Alexis Michka of Alamo, the son of Cathleen and Richard Michka, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, which was presented in June at the Danville Veteran's Hall. He is a member of Boy Scout Troop 36 under the leadership of Scoutmaster Tom Dittrich. For his community-service project, Ryan planned and led a team of volunteers in the repair of erosion damage on Mt. Diablo that was caused by concentrated runoff at the south end of the Lower Summit Parking Lot. This project included terracing the hillside, redirecting drainage into an existing culvert pipe and renovating a half-mile section of adjacent hiking trails.
