Committee begins work on Quarry Lands plans

A 19-member committee assigned to help plan how to develop roughly 1,000 acres on the east side of Pleasanton met for the first time Thursday night.

The East Pleasanton Specific Plan Task Force introduced themselves to the community and outlined the efforts and schedule they must keep over the next 18 months.

The task force, comprised of 17 members and two alternates, will create and propose a plan to city administrators that would outline how to develop part of the area known as the

Livermore-Amador Valley Quarry Lands.

The area runs east of Valley Avenue and along Busch Road and Stanley Boulevard to the Livermore city limits. Plan proposals are still in infant stages, but suggestions could include housing, new lakes and trails.

"This is a great opportunity to develop the site and be proud of it," City Manager Nelson Fiahlo said. "(The task force) will challenge everybody to listen to each other and be patient."

The task force will meet the first Thursday of every month at 6:30 p.m. at Mohr Elementary School, 3300 Dennis Drive.
