Free Thanksgiving dinner open to all
A group of Tri-Valley churches, businesses and individuals are hosting a free, traditional sit-down Thanksgiving meal from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at St. Raymond Catholic Church in Dublin.
Billed as the first Tri-Valley community outreach Thanksgiving dinner, the meal is open to anyone who would like to share a holiday dinner with others. Volunteers will provide the meal, entertainment and children's activities.
People who wish to contribute money to support the dinner may write checks payable to St. Raymond's with a notation that it is for the Thanksgiving dinner. Checks can be mailed or dropped off at the church, 11555 Shannon Ave., Dublin, CA 94568.

LIVERMORE
Learn how nonprofits should apply for grants
Nonprofit groups in Livermore and Pleasanton are encouraged to attend one of two upcoming workshops in December to apply for grants totaling more than $1 million in 2013-14.
At each workshop, city staff members will discuss grant programs, including housing and human services grants in Livermore and Pleasanton, as well as Pleasanton community grants for youth and civic arts. Attendance is mandatory in order to apply for grants in Livermore, and is strongly encouraged in Pleasanton.

DUBLIN
Santa to visit pancake breakfast, Holiday Faire
Santa will be out making merry Dec. 1 in Dublin.
First, St. Nick is expected at a pancake breakfast at the Shannon Community Center, 11600 Shannon Ave. Seatings are at 8:30, 9:45 and 11 a.m. Photos with Santa will be available for a donation to benefit the Dublin High School Irish Guard and Band. The cost for breakfast is $10, $12 for nonresidents. For reservations, call the Dublin parks department at 925-556-4500.
Later in the day, Santa is expected at noon at the Dublin Holiday Faire at the Dublin Heritage Parks and Museums, 6600 Donlon Way. Handcrafted items will be made and sold at the fair to be held from noon to 6 p.m.
The Merrie Old Christmas Carolers will perform and Santa will arrive by jingle bell wagon to start the event. Mulled wine, hot cider pretzels and streusel will be sold. Admission is free. A $5 wristband is sold for craft making and wagon rides.
