SAN JOSE -- Police announced Friday that a 23-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the suspected gang-related slaying of Daniel Capetillo, a 17-year-old San Jose resident who was gunned down last week.

Police, citing the fact that the investigating is ongoing, did not release any details regarding the arrest of Rebecca Michelle Villanueva, also of San Jose. It is unclear when or where she was arrested or what led police to suspect her.

Capetillo became the city's 43rd homicide of the year -- matching a 20-year high recorded in 1997 -- when he was shot around 11:30 p.m. Nov. 30 on the 900 block of Pacific Avenue. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators declared it the city's 16th gang-related killing this year. In 2011, 18 of the city's 40 homicides were thought to be fueled by gang tensions.

On Friday, police said they believe additional people were involved in Capetillo's killing, and they remain at large.
