PLEASANTON -- You can beat the heat this weekend at a temporary public cooling center.

Temperatures are expected to rise to triple digits Thursday through Saturday, and the Pleasanton Senior Center, 5353 Sunol Blvd, will be open noon to 8 p.m. each day.

Visitors can enjoy the air-conditioning facilities and will be served water and offered games and or/television viewing.

Free transportation will be provided through Pleasanton Paratransit Services to the designated center for the handicapped and those age 60 and over. Call 925-931-5365 to arrange a ride.
