Even before the Steelers suffered defeat during Sunday's Super Bowl, one of the team's fans landed in the hospital after his jersey seemed to offend members of the Raider Nation, according to San Jose police.

Police said a man wearing a Pittsburgh Steelers shirt was attacked by up to 15 male suspects Friday about 8 p.m. near San Felipe and Aborn roads.

Theattackers "claimed to be Raider fans" and struck the victim in the face before taking off. The man was taken to Kaiser San Jose hospital with unknown injuries, which police did not believe to be life-threatening.

Police did not reveal if there was any other motivation for the attack.

But the Raiders and the Steelers are long-time rivals. And the Raiders didn't make it into the playoffs this season.
