Right tackle Khalif Barnes became the first of 17 unrestricted free agents to return to the Raiders, the club announced Wednesday.
Since free agency began, four players -- Philip Wheeler (Dolphins), Desmond Bryant (Browns), Brandon Myers (Giants) and Matt Shaughnessy (Cardinals) have signed with other teams, while the rest remain on the market.
An eight-year veteran, Barnes started nine games at right tackle last season after recovering from a torn groin muscle. He was a 16-game starter in 2011.
Barnes is versatile enough to have played in the gap and power scheme blocking the Raiders utilized in 2011 as well as the zone system last season.
