Bargain Basement Versace
It's been a long haul trying to find a new owner for the famous South Beach Miami home of Versace, the Italian designer murdered just outside the front door of his home at 1116 Ocean Dr, back in 1997. The 23,462-square-foot mansion was sold to Telecom founder Peter Loftin for $19 million and then turned into Villa by Barton G, a boutique hotel.
Now, after a second $25 million price reduction, the extravagant property is listed for $75 million. This may sound like a bargain compared to the original $125 million list price, but, then again, there is the 24-karat gold-lined mosaic pool that is hard to put a price tag on.
Hollywood Stars' Lake Arrowhead Retreat for Sale
George Washington may be the most famous American to be associated with claims about where he slept, but somewhere down the line are references to houses where Hollywood elites slept, especially Marilyn Monroe. Now a famous 1927 estate in Lake Arrowhead called the "Hilltop" is back on the market with a price that suggests its star is rising, or an indication of a hot L.A. real estate market.
Once owned by Music Corporation of America co-founder Jules Stein, Hilltop became a coveted lakefront getaway for the likes of Cary Grant and Rock Hudson to Monroe, who stayed in a bungalow called "The Happy Hut."
Set on 3.85 acres, the estate first hit the market at $14.2 million in 2010, saw a price drop to $9.975 million in December 2012, but is now back in the lights for $14.8 million. The 15,000-square-foot property at 28751 N Shore Rd, Lake Arrowhead, CA is no ordinary lake house. It boasts 10 bedrooms, 14 bathrooms, a great room, conservatory, study, caretaker's quarters, dock house and car-collector's showroom.
Thought He Told You That He Won't Stop
After trying to sell his Manhattan condo with the blackout shades, supreme sound system, cigar humidors and marble bathtubs for $8.5 million, Sean "Diddy" Combs has dropped the price of his digs at 230 W 56th St in New York to $7.99 million.
Maybe he's trying to play catch-up with Madonna, who just unloaded the Central Park West condo she had owned since her days with ex-husband Sean Penn. The producer/rapper/mogul makes no secret about being his Material Boy lifestyle.
Redskins' QB RGIII Finds Love Nest in Virginia
Robert Griffin III is having a busy offseason rehabbing his injured knee and marrying his longtime girlfriend. But the scrambling NFL star took some time to buy $2.5 million, 5-bedroom home in a gated community in Aldie, Va., about 30 minutes from D.C. The best feature of RGIII's new abode? An elevator. Judging from his all-out, take-that-extra-yard style, he'll need all the help he can get to protect his valuable, scrambling NFL legs.
Thirtysomething Marriage Partners Selling
Actress Patricia Wettig and producer Ken Olin have been married for 30 years, which is fitting, since they made their big marks in the entertainment world back in the 1980's on the hit show "Thirtysomething."
Their Colonial-style home in Santa Monica is listed for $6.9 million and has just less than 5,000 square feet spread over 4 bedrooms and 3.75 bathrooms. Time flies, even for the perennially 30-year-old TV stars, whose real-life kids are grown up, prompting the sale of the Wettig-Olin abode.
