EL SOBRANTE — Karen Lefler, a Shelter Inc. ambassador, will give a presentation on "The Changing Face of Homelessness" at 7 p.m. Thursday at the El Sobrante Library, 4191 Appian Way.
Shelter Inc. of Contra Costa is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing homelessness and promoting self-sufficiency. Lefler will discuss changes the organization is seeing in a tight economy, including a sharp increase in the number of homeless children, explain Shelter Inc. services and show how involvement by the community can help alleviate the problem.
The organization is teaming with Conquer the Canyon for a fundraising four-day, three-night Grand Canyon hiking adventure that will give participants a close-up and one-of-a-kind experience in the national park accompanied by an expert guide who will offer insight on the surroundings. Lefler, and Conquer the Canyon hike coordinator, will discuss the unique fundraiser and how to be part of it in her free talk.
Reach Chris Treadway at 510-262-2784.
